Summer Pre-Sessional programmes
These summer programmes allow students with a minimum of IELTS 5.0/5.5 to improve their English language to the level required to join an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Our pathway courses are designed to prepare you for study at university in the UK. The options are the International Foundation Year (for undergraduate study), Pre-Masters and a suite of Pre-sessional programmes for students with English language skills between IELTS 4.5 and IELTS 6.0.
We also provide in-sessional English language support and study skills advising for international students at Southampton, as well as workshops on intercultural communication and EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.

These programmes starting in September and January allow students with a minimum of IELTS 4.5 to improve their English language to the level required to join an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
This programme is for talented students from outside the UK who may not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry to an undergraduate degree programme in a British university.
This integrated programme is designed to prepare and develop students from outside the UK who have an undergraduate degree but may not qualify for direct entry to their chosen Masters course.
This Programme starts in February and is designed to help students to improve their language and academic skills before studying undergraduate modules.
These credit-bearing modules can be taken for a semester or a whole year. Students can study English at one of five different Stages, from intermediate to near-native speaker level.
The EAP skills support programme offers academic language support to international students who need to develop their English language and academic literacy skills during their studies.
These sessions give students the opportunity to discuss any issues related to language learning or academic development on a one-to-one basis.
These workshops for teaching and administrative staff help develop intercultural awareness in Higher Education environments.
